Yes. Visits are by appointment only so we can give you the time and attention needed for a thorough foot evaluation, precise measurements, and personalized shoe and orthotic recommendations.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling our toll-free number or local clinic or by submitting a request through our website. A member of our team will help find a convenient time and confirm next steps. Our toll-free number is 1-866-557-3478. You can find a list of our clinic locations on the “locations” page.

Please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • A photo ID

  • Your insurance card including Medicare if applicable

  • Your primary care provider or podiatrist information

  • Your current shoes and orthotics if you have them

Who evaluates at the appointments?

You will be evaluated by trained clinical professionals, Certified Shoe Fitters or Certified Pedorthists, who specialize in diabetic footwear, foot health, and orthotic support. Our team works closely with your referring provider when required.

How often do I need to be seen?

Most patients are seen once every 12 months for their annual foot evaluation and shoe benefit. Some insurance plans may follow a rolling 12-month schedule rather than a calendar year.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Priority Footwear works with Medicare, Medicaid and many major insurance plans for diabetic shoes and custom orthotics.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept Medicare, Medicaid and a wide range of commercial insurance plans. Coverage varies by plan, so our team will verify your benefits before proceeding. To check if your insurance plan is accepted, visit “our process” page.

Do I need to contact my insurance ahead of time?

No. Our team will handle insurance verification and let you know what is covered before your appointment or fitting.

Does insurance cover everything?

Many patients with Medicare qualify for diabetic shoes and custom orthotics at little or no out of pocket cost. Some plans may include a copay depending on coverage. Our team will let you know what is covered before your appointment or fitting.

How much does it cost?

Costs depend on your insurance coverage. For many Medicare eligible patients, diabetic shoes and orthotics are covered at 100 percent. Our team will let you know the costs before your appointment.

Is there a copy?

Some insurance plans may require a copay. If a copay applies, you will be informed in advance.

When do I pay?

Any patient responsibility is typically collected at the time of dispensing (pick up) your shoes and orthotics.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards, and HSA or FSA cards when applicable.

How many shoes do I get?

Most Medicare eligible patients qualify for one pair of diabetic shoes per benefit year.

How often do I get shoes?

Diabetic shoe benefits typically renew once every 12 months, either by calendar year or on a rolling basis depending on your plan.

What type of shoes are available?

We offer a wide selection of

  • Diabetic shoes for men and women

  • Diabetic athletic and walking shoes

  • Casual diabetic styles

  • Extra depth diabetic footwear

  • Supportive outdoor shoes

What is the difference between diabetic shoes and orthopedic shoes?

Diabetic shoes are specifically designed for sensitive feet. Their features, construction and materials excel in reducing pressure points, accommodating orthotics, and protecting sensitive feet. Orthopedic shoes focus more broadly on structural support and alignment and may not meet Medicare diabetic shoe requirements.

What shoe sizes are available?

We carry a wide range of sizes for both men and women to ensure proper fit. Women’s sizes range from 5-13 and men’s sizes range from 7-15.

What widths are available?

We carry men’s widths up to 6E and women’s widths up to 4E.

Do you have extra depth shoes?

Yes. Extra depth shoes (double depth) are a core part of our diabetic footwear selection and are designed to accommodate custom orthotics, AFOs, braces, prosthetics, wide and swollen feet.

How do I clean the shoes?

We recommend spot cleaning with mild soap and water. Allow shoes to air dry completely, Do not clean them in the washing machine or dryer.

Is there a warranty?

Shoe warranties vary by manufacturer. Our team will review warranty details at the time of dispensing.

How do I clean the orthotics?

Orthotics can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow them to air dry fully before placing them back in your shoes. Do not place them in the washing machine or dryer.

When do I need to replace the orthotics?

If your insurance benefits include three custom inserts every 12 months, we recommend replacing them every four months to maintain optimal support, cushioning, and comfort.

How do I replace the orthotics?

Simply remove the current custom insert from your shoe and replace it with the new one, making sure the toe area lies flat and reaches the front of the shoe’s toe box. If the insert does not fit properly, please call our toll-free number or contact the clinic where you were seen for assistance.

Can I use the orthotics in other shoes?

It depends on the shoes. Shoes with removable insoles, a wide toe area and extra depth may accommodate your custom inserts.

What is the difference between custom orthotics and over the counter styles?

Custom orthotics are made specifically for your feet using clinical evaluation and 3D scanning. Over the counter inserts are mass produced and do not address individual foot conditions or pressure points.
